Our very own Shaun is taking on two massive marathon's comign up.
He'll be running the Berlin Marathon on September 25th 2022 and just one week later he will be tackling the London Marathon on Sunday October 2nd.
So far, Shaun has raised over £1000 for local charity Isle Listen, an initiative that works within the Manx community to shed light on mental health matters, removing the stigma from important discussions surrounding mental health- encouraging people to come forward and seek help should they need it. As a company we have worked close with Isle Listen over the years, with them being our chosen Charity of 2021.
You can donate to Shaun's fundraising at Cooil Road or by visiting https://www.islelisten.im/donate/
Each year we designate a local charity to be our 'Charity of the Year'. This year, we are supporting two wonderful initiatives; Wish Upon a Dream and Remember Me.
The Wish Upon a Dream foundation grants wishes to terminally ill or sick children living on the island, offering support to their families. This independant initiative has assisted families on the Isle of Man for a number of years, working to provide experiences and wonderful memories for children.
Wish Upon a Dream's sister charity, Remember Me works close with sick parents on the island, offering support to their families wherever possible, granting wishes to the fmaily to make special memories.
Throughout 2022, we have donation stations set up within our Cooil Road and Prospect Terrace stores where our customers can donate chnage to the initiative and find out more about the charities.
Alongside this, 1% of what you spend within our Prospect Terrace store with your rewards card is donated to the Charities, and at the end of the year we match this fund from ourselves to be donated directly to the initiatives.
We host in-store events throughout the year to aid charities, coming up we have a charity bake sale to raise funds and some exciting events towards the end of the year.
To read more about these wonderful charities, visit https://www.wishuponadream.co.uk/index.html and ensure you are following us on Facebook for more updates thorughout the year.

Our chosen charity for 2021 is Isle Listen, a charitable initiative that provides support and training in schools, the workplace and community, helping people to recognise that mental health is just as important as physical health.
We understand that lockdown periods have had a tremendous impact on many people's mental health, and think it's vital to show visibility of issues affecting so many, creating a safe space for individuals to receive support and challenge the stigma around mental health.
We have worked alongside Isle Listen to implement their new TAP TO GIVE™ donation terminals within our Prospect Terrace and Cooil Road store, meaning you can donate to the charity on your contactless device.

Good Afternoon,
I am the PE lead at Onchan Primary School and I am currently organising week focusing on Healthy Lifestyles for the children of Onchan School Active Week. During the week we are having speakers visiting, whole school work outs and a whole school sponsored walk in Molly Quirks Glen.
During the week, we would love to give the children some healthy snacks on arrival to school as an incentive for participating in the project. Of course, with over 400 children in our school, this comes with a cost. I was wondering if this would be something that you would be interested in supporting?

Well done to MS Wood Art, their mini Christmas Tree's raised £600 which Robinson's were delighted to match. The money was split between two fabulous local charities Crossroads Care Isle of Manand Hospice Isle of Man. If you had your real xmas tree turned into a mini tree ornament then you have a wonderful item to treasure over the years.
Robinson’s have launched a special ‘Always & Forever’ to help raise funds for Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation. The bouquet will be on sale throughout June at Robinson’s The Terrace and Cooil Road, and online at Signature Flowers. £5 from each bouquet sold will go directly to the charity.
Mark Hotchkiss from the Floristry Centre comments, “The bouquet has been designed by our Head Florist, Denise Beevers, with a range of beautiful seasonal flowers, including peonies, stocks, allium and oriental lilies. We have been honoured to create this bouquet for Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation, a life-saving charity which has made a difference to countless people”.
Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation was set up by the Lunt family in memory of their son Craig, who died from an undiagnosed heart defect in 2005, at the age of 25. Craig had Long QT Syndrome, an electrical heart disorder, which is one of many conditions that can cause unexplained sudden death syndrome.
The Foundation is dedicated to raising funds to enable heart screening for men and women between 14 and 35. Screening allows the detection of possible symptoms of Hypertropic and Dilated Cardiomyopathy, therefore preventing Sudden Death Syndrome.
Craig’s mother Paula helped to put together the first bouquet. She says, “We’re so grateful for this support from Robinson’s, and for all the support we’ve received over the years. It allows us to prevent local young people suffering from undiagnosed heart problems, and also helps with ongoing treatment.
“Each screening costs £22,000, which is provided solely by Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation. 8.5 thousand young people have been screened since 2006. There are two screenings per year; the next one is in September”.
Craig’s Heartstrong Foundation has partnered with UK charity Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) in order to bring to the island the equipment and staff required for heart screening events. The charity has also issued defibrillator machines – which greatly increase the chances of survival following cardiac arrest - to schools, offices and sports clubs, and is now providing public access defibrillators across the island.
Just want to say a massive thank you to the chap in your office for arranging the donation of six pallets to our tots community gardening club and to the lovely helpful driver who kindly delivered them. They have been turned into an amazing 3 compartment composter that we are very excited to use in Arbory School Community garden. We’d love to post a thank you on our Facebook page GRIN Isle of Man if that’s ok with you? Thanks Lucy
On 31st August I will be jumping out of a plane between 11,000-15,000ft for the charity 'A Little Piece if Hope' in memory of two special girls Esmee-Sue and Hope-Samara.
I haven't got any first hand experience of the loss of a child but i never had an easy ride through pregnancy or birth and everyday i'm grateful that i have my little girl Autumn by my side every day.
A Little Piece of Hope helps families through some of the most difficult times of their lives assisting families on the Isle of Man with support when losing a child, funeral expenses, hospital stays, travel and also towards mental health and bullying on the Island in children and teens.
Please help me in supporting this worthy charity and in return i'll be throwing myself out of a plane and facing me fear of heights.

A little background: The John Beggs Memorial Golf Competition was set up by Jimmy Keane in 1994 to remember his friend, John Beggs, who passed away in May 1993 after suffering a heart attack whilst on holiday in the Greek Island of Kos.
After conversations with John’s wife, Alyson, and Jimmy, we at Hansard have offered additional support in running this event to allow the fantastic work they have done for so long to continue. The competition serves not only to remember John, but to raise funds for the Manx Heart Foundation to enable this local charity to continue with their help and support within the local community.

New Robinson’s Sponsorship for Junior Girls Football
The Isle of Man’s young female footballers have received a boost from Robinson’s, who have chosen to sponsor Douglas and District FC’s Junior Girls Football initiative.
The scheme, designed to nurture talent and develop skills in sporting 4-12 year olds, has been a resounding hit since it was first launched, and support from Robinson’s ensures its viability well into the future.
The first incarnation of the scheme was started in 2012, with free soccer schools for boys under eight and coaching from First Team players Richard Brant, Chris Bowers and Andrew Gosnell. Five boys attended the opening session; there are now over 50 boys aged 4-12 registered, additional coaches and multiple teams.
Junior Boys has led to a number of players representing the Isle of Man, and the school won its first trophies in 2015 and 2016, taking home the Under 10s Office World Cup two years in a row. Douglas and District has also won the Isle of Man Football Association’s Community Awards ‘Charter Standard Development Club of the Year’ three times (2012/13, 2013/14, and 2016/17).
Junior Girls was an an instant success upon its launch in 2016, with over 40 girls attending the open day alone; there are now 55 girls, eight teams, and five Under 10 girls in the FA’s Centre of Excellence Squad. Set up by Andrew Gosnell (Senior) and Ric Delaney, with help from Lauren Shimmin, the school now has three more coaches and is set for further growth.
Ric Delaney comments, “Girls’ football is only getting bigger in the island, and other clubs are following the example of Douglas and District FC. Robinson’s sponsorship has helped the girls and boys massively in getting new kits and jackets, and has secured the future of our Junior set-up. We are currently trying to organise a Robinson’s Cup Competition, which will be a brilliant way to end the season”.
Katie Mathieson-Nelson, Robinson’s Marketing Manager, says, “We are delighted to be part of this youth initiative and thrilled to see that interest in girls’ football is growing in the Isle of Man. Our whole team is really excited at the prospect of the Robinson’s Cup Competition, and looking forward together to this event”.
Robinson’s Supports Emergency Assistance Portal
The First Point Community Portal, the online service that allows people to store their details in case of an emergency, has received a boost from sponsor Robinson’s. Their donation was made at a presentation at Robinson’s Cooil Road with Tony Fox, from Robinson’s and Alexandra Koyfman from PDMS.
The First Point Community Portal is a community-focused scheme in pilot stage designed to help the emergency services to provide an optimal response in the event of a crisis. It was developed by PDMS in partnership with the Island’s emergency services and several local charities, in order to give added support to people with additional needs in the community.
Users of the service create a secure, online, password-protected profile, containing key personal information, which is accessible only by the Isle of Man Police and Emergency Services Joint Control Room. The First Point Community Portal helps the elderly; people living with physical or mental health conditions; and those living alone or remotely. In a crisis situation, it allows the emergency services to identify someone, contact their loved ones sooner, address their unique needs, and get them to a safe place sooner.
Robinson’s has a long history of supporting community initiatives and charities on the island. Katie Mathieson – Nelson, Marketing Manager at Robinson’s, says, “We are passionate about helping those who make a difference. First Point Community Portal provides an invaluable resource to those who need it most; we applaud everyone involved with its operation, and are only too happy to give our support”.
Alexandra Koyfman, First Point Community Portal Project Lead, says, “A huge thank you to our newest sponsor, Robinson’s. Through the support of trusted local businesses, we are able to provide this service to our community for when they need it most”.
If you would like to find out more, please visit firstpoint.signedup.im, call 664000, or pick up a leaflet from Robinson’s.

We are proud to have helped Tony Fox and his family over the past couple of years with fundraising for the Normothermic Regional Perfusion machine (NRP), which will be renamed the ‘Fox machine’ in memory of Anne Fox, a patients at the hospital and fundraiser also. The Fox Machine, keeps the liver, pancreas and kidneys perfused with the donors’ own oxygenated blood after circulatory death. This means the organs are healthier and less likely to be damaged than with conventional retrieval after circulatory standstill, increasing the number of potential organ donors and improving the likelihood of a successful transplant.

Dear Katie
I write to thank you for the most kind voucher Robinsons gave me for my annual Breast Cancer Coffee Morning which was held on Saturday 11th August, I was concerned that I would not do so well as the date clashed with the Royal Manx, but the hall was packed and a lovely atmosphere. I am so grateful for your continued support as I continue to raise much needed funds for Research into Breast Cancer.

One thing that stands out for us and surprises our visitors every year is the generosity of the local businesses around the Island, Ellan Vannin fuels are the main sponsor of the event and are a fantastic support for us, but we have had help from the following companies who have assisted in making this happen again. Shoprite, Robinsons,McDonalds ,MannVend, Agrimark, Spco, IOM Gas, IOM Meats, WDS, HSS Hire, Ace Hire, TD Cars Marks & Spencers and Odd Bins. Dear Janna,
Just a short note to say thank you for your incredible support in respect of the Forget Me Not Ball.
The evening was a huge success and we are delighted (if not asrounded) to report that we raised £166,176 in total from the event. This would not have been possible without the overwelming generosity of our sponsors, donors and also those who attended on the evening.
The amount raised is being donated to Alzheimer's Society Isle of Man, Alzheimers Research UK and also to the newly established Forget Me Not Isle of Man Charity. This huge sum of money will go a long way in helping people suffering with dementia in the Isle of Man and will also contribute towards vital research. Perhaps as importantly, the event had raised awareness of the impact dementia has on those it touches.
Thank you once again for your invaluable support.

Dear Mrs Filson
The QEII Hockey & Netball Tour was a great success! On Friday the girls played four Hockey fixtures against a strong Stonyhurst side, with QEII stepping up and securing three well earnt victories. Saturday morning the girls played in a round-robin tournament against a local netball club. It was a great opportunity for our girls to play at a higher level and that did not faze them - each team experiencing both victory and defeat. The girls were overjoyed to receive their hoody's, clearly a treasured item as they did not remove them for the whole weekend!
I would like to take this opportunity to personally thank both Robinsons for sponsoring the girls' hoodies. The attached images show how smart the girls looked.
Kind Regards,
Miss Pate'
What a fantastic start to our healthy eating talks for 2018! The children at Laxey school were a pleasure to be around. They listened carefully to Paul talking about healthy eating and locals foods. The children asked some great questions and loved interacting with Mrs Smoothie!
Young Taekwondo ace Nino Ontoy has found a champion in Robinson’s.
Nino, 12, of Manx Taekwondo, has been steadily winning medals and titles in national and international competitions since he first began competing.
With the 2018 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships on the horizon (the championships take place in Taiwan in November), Nino’s family recently appealed to individuals and organisations to lend a helping hand towards the practical costs of competing at such a high standard.
Fresh food wholesaler and retailer Robinson’s responded to the appeal by Nino’s father, Dominador ‘Dom’ Ontoy, and made a contribution that will help Nino to keep on achieving his dreams.
Island-born Nino began practicing the ancient martial art of Taekwondo at the age of five. Within a couple of years, he became the youngest Black Belt in the Manx Taekwondo Club. He is the current British Taekwondo Poomsae Cadet No. 1 and recently passed his third Poomsae Black Belt examination in Nottinghamshire, receiving a mention for Exceptional Performance. He has so far won 40 gold medals in major competitions, and many more awards and accolades besides.
In January, Nino represented Britain at the Sixth International Poomsae Open in Lille, France; this was one of several qualifiers that Nino must compete in, in order to reach the World Championships in Taiwan.
Father Dom comments, “Nino has come so far and accomplished so much for his age, and we are incredibly proud of him. We reached out to the Isle of Man community because the cost of competing internationally can be difficult for us to meet. We were over the moon that Robinson’s contacted us, and are so thankful for their kind gesture. Nino is committed to giving his best, encouraged by the support of his family, club, and generous sponsors”.
Speaking for Robinson’s, Katie Mathieson-Nelson commented, “Nino is an exceptional athlete, a great role model for young people, and a fine ambassador for the Isle of Man. We’re only too happy to support him, and will be cheering him on as he sets his sights on competing in Taiwan. We’re sure that there will be many more medals waiting down the line for Nino”.
Hands up who received a lovely bunch of flowers from Robinson's Fresh Foods with their milk delivery this morning. 0

I write to thank you for your most kind voucher for the coffee morning I had on Sat 5th August for “Breast Cancer Now Isle of Man” – this helped raise the total for the raffle of £710. The overall total was £2,810.08 and I was delighted. The aim of Breast Cancer Now is that by 2050 no woman or man will lose their lives to this disease, it will become controlled by medication – medication which can only be realised by funding research and I thank you sincerely for helping us in this way.
Kind regards

Staff from the School Nursing Team are looking forward to taking part once again in Healthy Eating Week. This is a national event organised by the British Nutrition Foundation which starts on the 15th June and is a good way of highlighting the importance of good nutrition for school children.
This year the school nursing team are visiting 27 primary schools across the Island during the week to run interactive teaching sessions with the year 6 pupils about the importance of eating a healthy breakfast. The Director of Community Nursing Cath Quilliam stated “This year we have concentrated on the year 6 children as many of them are starting to prepare their own breakfasts and it is essential that they develop the knowledge and skills needed to help them make an informed choice about eating a healthy breakfast”.
It is recommended that children aged 7-10 should have no more than 6 cubes of sugar in one day. A survey conducted by Public Health England demonstrated that many children consume more than 11g of sugar at breakfast time alone, which is the equivalent of 3 cubes of sugar.
Sometimes the advertising of breakfast cereals and bars can be misleading and parents believe they are giving their child a healthy product - however in reality they are actually giving their child a breakfast that is high sugar, fat or salt.
At the end of the session the children should improve their understanding about:
· What makes up a healthy breakfast
· How much you should be eating by investigating portion sizes
· How you can tell if a breakfast is healthy or unhealthy by reading and understanding the food labels.
Sonia Cowin who is a Community Nursery Nurse for the School Nursing Team said “Eating a healthy breakfast containing the main food groups including whole grain cereals (starchy foods), fruit & vegetables, dairy and protein, provides the important nutrients needed to fuel your day. Children sometimes skip breakfast which can increase feelings of hunger later in the day and can have a detrimental effect on concentration, mood and performance at school”.
Local family-run business Robinson’s, is lending The School Nursing Team a hand to help ensure the success of the event. As well as providing demonstration breakfast boxes for school nurses to use in interactive teaching demonstrations, they will be sponsoring materials for use in a ‘Design Your Healthy Breakfast’ competition, which will invite the children to either create a recipe or draw their perfect healthy meal.
Katie Mathieson-Nelson, spokesperson for Robinson’s, comments, “We have been delighted to assist Ann and the team with Healthy Breakfast Week. Supplying fresh, high quality produce to the Island is at the heart of what we do, and we understand the value of good nutrition. We have always welcomed school visits to our main depot at Ballapaddag, and are only too happy to strengthen our community links by supporting the primary schools in this initiative”.
Good Afternoon Tony

What a fantastic day we had with Class 3/4H - the coach arrived at Stuart Allanson's farm in Jurby on a very cold Thursday morning. The children then came back to Douglas after lunch and visited us at Robinson's on Cooil Rd.
Stuart showed us the varieties of vegetables he grew on the Isle of Man and Katherine showed us how the vegetables were seeded and grown in greenhouses until they were ready to be planted in the fields. All the children were well equipped with warm clothes, hats, clothes and of course their wellies. The fields were very muddy which the children loved! Stuart showed the children carrots and parsnips in the ground and showed the machinery he uses to extract the vegetables. We were then all taken to the warehouse where the vegetables are sorted and packed ready for delivery to Robinson's. The visit was finished off with packed lunches in the greenhouse and some freshly baked carrot cake made by Mrs Allanson - recipe on the back of Allanson's Farm carrot bags mmmm!
Some quotes from the children after their visit to the farm ;-
“I loved seeing the seeds going into the soil, it was really interesting.” “It was fascinating seeing the carrots coming out of the ground.”
“I really enjoyed seeing the machines.” “The carrot cake was delicious.” “I loved walking in the mud!”
Later that afternoon the children arrived at Robinson's. Paul met everyone and chatted about Manx grown vegetables, the children were intrigued with some of the more exotic fruit and vegetables too. Angelo from The Fishmarket showed the children the various seafood on the fish counter and of course the lobsters were a hot as usual. Mrs Smoothie then called in to see the children and danced around doing the conga while everyone tucked into a delicious fruit platter :)
Some quotes from the children after visiting us at Robinson's;-
“There was loads of information, it was really interesting." “The lobster was really slimy and it made me jump!”
“I loved trying the pineapple, it was my first time and it tasted yummy.” “I loved dancing with the strawberry.”
Thanks for the visit guys hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
We loved our morning with the year 4 and 5's from Rushen Primary School last Thursday. The children are studying how the weather effects produce which is something that is really important living on the Isle of Man. The weather can both effect the Manx grown crops from our fantastic local suppliers as well as hindering our ability to get products and produce over to our little island -as i 'm sure everyone is aware the boats and planes can get cancelled when we have foggy or windy weather!
The children were really interested in some of the exotic produce, asking lots of question which Aom from our store helped answer. All the children tried some Quince - which they decided tasted a bit like apple. They also called into The Fishmarket and spoke to our fishmonger Sean.
The visit was finished off with some delicious fruit platters before the children went off (in the very cold Manx weather) to take photos on Douglas promenade!
Robinson's were proud to be asked to take part in a new initiative at St Mary's School to help the Island’s children learn more about healthy lifestyles and emotional wellbeing.
The Douglas school has worked with other local businesses, parents, and the Department of Health and Social Care’s to organise a week of events which will include a health fair for children and their families. A ‘Zumbathon’ will serve as the grand finale, with the whole school coming together for a taste of the popular dance-based fitness routine.
Paul from Robinson's set up a small stall with fresh fruit and vegetables and chatted to the children on Tuesday. Mr Chunks was also a bit hit as always!
What a fantastic initiative -which may be rolled out around the school's on the Island.

‘Fork to Fork’, a hands-on educational programme created by The Children’s Centre’s Community Farm, has received a boost from one of the Isle of Man’s oldest businesses.
Robinsons, the well-known food services wholesaler and retailer, has announced its sponsorship of the Community Farm scheme.
‘Fork to Fork’, launched in 2012, is a primary school food education programmed aimed at Year 4 classes. During sessions spaced out over the academic year, the farm team visits the Island’s schools, and in turn, classes visit the farm, which is situated on the Old Castletown Road near.
The aim of the programme, which links with the school curriculum, is to develop awareness and understanding in young people of our environment and ecosystem; animal husbandry; and food provenance and production.
The farm, which is run on a naturally sustainable land management system, currently has polytunnels, vegetable and herb gardens, and animals including pigs, donkeys, chickens and rabbits. Through a mixture of talks, games, and practical activities – such as planting seedlings, and harvesting vegetables – the children have an opportunity to learn, discover and engage with their environment in a fun, relaxed way.
Robinsons, whose backing of ‘Fork to Fork’ forms part of its 130th Anniversary celebrations, has always believed firmly in supporting local farmers from an economic and community standpoint; the company also recently helped Isle of Man Young Farmers to appeal for new members.
Janna Williamson explains, “We believe that understanding where your food comes from is vitally important for young people. The work undertaken by the Community Farm is really valuable, and we’re delighted to be able to provide assistance. We were already helping by donating our vegetable waste for the pigs, but now we’ve made a larger commitment!”
Lee Brooks, Community Farm Manager, says, “Our Fork to Fork project fosters in children a connection to their natural environment, and an understanding of the way we depend on the land, on animals and on growers and produces, for our food. At the same time, they learn a wide variety of skills and have great fun. We’re immensely thankful to Robinsons for their support, as it enables the farm, and this project, to go from strength to strength”.
Great visit this morning from Tony Fallon and some of the pupils from Castle Rushen High School. Their visit was part of their 'Food's from around the World' project, each pupil had £10 to spend in store.

Schools on the Isle of Man can take part in a new healthy-eating initiative thanks to health-conscious pupils from Onchan School and local fruit and vegetable retailers, Robinson’s.
‘Fruit for Schools’ is a new initiative to provide fruit snacks to pupils through the creation of healthy tuck shops. It was the School Council members from Onchan School who came up with the idea to provide a healthy tuck shop during break times. The project became reality when the group contacted Robinson’s to see if they could help by providing fresh fruit for the tuck shop.
“The children were really knowledgeable and were keen to tell me how it was good for the school to be able to offer healthy snacks at break times rather than having to bring one from home everyday,” said Katie Mathieson-Nelson from Robinson’s. “The school already had a policy of providing only healthy snacks so the children were aware of the health benefits of eating fruit and veg but it’s great that they want to take it further by offering a healthy tuck shop.”
The tuck shop is run on three mornings each week and is managed by year 5 and 6 children, with help from younger pupils; the group are responsible for the process from beginning to end.
Caley Corkill, the teacher responsible for overseeing Onchan School Council, said: “I am extremely proud of the children. They have been leading this initiative from the outset, coming up with the idea and carrying out the project. There is a huge amount of learning to be gained; as the children are responsible for the day to day running and advertising of the tuck shop. The project offers many learning outcomes for the children and can raise money for school funds.”
Katie and Paul Caisley from Robinson’s visited the school and to the delight of the pupils they were joined by their fruit mascots. Following the success of the project at Onchan School, they would like to see other schools on the Isle of Man become involved with the ‘Fruit for Schools’ initiative.
Katie said: “We were so thrilled to be part of Onchan School’s healthy tuck shop idea that we decided to launch ‘Fruit for Schools’ as part of our 130th anniversary celebrations. It’s such a fabulous way to promote healthy eating. It’s also a great opportunity for any school to become involved and we now hope to give other schools the chance to set up their own fruit stall or tuck shop.”
Schools who are interested in taking part in ‘Fruit for Schools’ from September 2016 should contact Katie by email at katieh@robinsons.im
We were really interested when Clare e-mailed us regarding the 'Celebration of skipping' within the Island's Primary schools, getting the children active and having fun! We were more than happy to sponsor this and provide all the children with fruit and water for this fun, healthy event.
The Celebration of Skipping was held was held in the hall at Rushen Primary school on Friday 25th June 2016, with about 80 children from different schools on the Isle of Man taking part.
Mrs Smoothie and Mr Chunks arrived just in time for Hoop-a-cise with Paula so joined in where they could. The children then did a demostration of long rope skipping with lot's of clever skills including face to face, 360 degree turns and at one point I think we had about 8 children skipping at once! Mrs Smoothie had a skip with the children but couldn't quite master jumping in, I think she was a little too big for the rope!!
Paul stayed for the presentation and met all the children on this fantastic afternoon and we received a lovely card made by the children - thank you so much!
It was a beautiful afternoon when we were invited to visit the children at Schoil yn Jubillee Infant School - the teachers ran a short clip on the Robinson's business and Mr Chunks & Mrs Smoothie had their photo's taken with all the classes.
What a fantastic trip to visit the children at The Salvation Army's Ark Nursery in Douglas this lunchtime. Paul arrived with Mr Chunks and Mrs Smoothie, the children were very excited and so well behaved.
Paul showed the children kiwi's, oranges, melons, grapes, pawpaw, passion fruit, ugli fruit to guess what colours the fruits were inside, he then cut the products up and let the children see and smell them. All the children tried grapes, cantaline melon, honeydew melon, pineapple and oranges - thank you for inviting us, we will see you again in June!
Paul was delighted to be invited along to Ballasalla Primary School's Woodland Class. Paul brought along different varieties fruits and vegetables from around the World. Paul discussed the health benefits of eating a wide variety of fruit, the colours of the fruits and the 5 a day motto. He even brought an Ugli fruit for the children to see!
The children used some of the fruit to draw in their art lessons too!
We were delighted to welcome Ashley Hill's Year 1 classes to Onchan Shoprite yesterday afternoon. Paul had a display of locally produced foods; he talked about Ramsey Bakery, Isle of Man Creameries, Moore's Kippers, Paddy's Hooked on Fish, Staarvey Farm, Allanson's Farm, Gelling's eggs, Noa Bakehouse, Laxey Glen Flour Mills and Manx Meats.
We were very excited to be involved in the Manx Youth Games Opening Ceremony on Saturday 7th May 2016 at the National Sports Centre. The children marched onto the NSC running track in their groups and all did a fantastic warm up with the lovely dance ladies, Oden (The new Mascot designed by Grace from St mary's School) and Mr Chuinks and Mrs Smoothie. Despite the wet weather everyone enjoyed themselves and had a smile on their faces!
A massive well done to everyone who took part in the Lisa Lowe Walk in aid of Manx Cancer Help. Robinson's were proud to support such a fantastic local event supplying the water and fruit for those who took part.

Robinson's Fresh Foods were proud sponsors of the Sports Relief Challenge on Douglas Promenade this Sunday (20th March 2016). Mrs Smoothie & Mr Chunks were joining in the fantastic warm up run by Warehouse Fitness and meeting the competitors. Well done to everyone who took part in all three races!
Paul visited Ballacottier School and the children in the Rainbow room last year, so we were over the moon when Mr Jolly contacted us to arrange a visit to Robinson's.
The children arrived full of smiles and listened to Paul talking about the exotic fruits, they were guessing the colour of the flesh of paw paws, mangos.
|
Oham, from our shop at Cooil Road, showed the children a Wintermelon, it was huge! We cut the melon so the children could have a look and Oham explained that the melon would be used in stews and cooking
. Paul and Oham also showed the children some of the exotic vegetables which can be used in Indian, Thai and Chinese cooking.
Mrs Smoothie and Mr Chunks popped in to say hello to the children, there was lot's of 'High 5's' and even had a little dance.
Sean from Paddy's Hooked on fish talked to the children about the lobsters and the fresh fish display - there were lots of questions. Some of the children were brave and touched the lobsters - even Mr Jolly held one!.
Paul and Katie from Robinson's were honoured to have been invited to Willaston Primary School's Smoothie Bar this afternoon! Smoothies made by the staff and pupils using their own recipes. Delicious fresh fruit smoothies and fruit kebabs were on sale at the children's stands and parents were invited in to the classroom to try them all :)
Paul, Mr Chunks and Mrs Smoothie were very excited for Willaston school visit to us at Cooil Road today. Mrs Smoothie and Mr Chunks were waiting in the sunshine at the gates for the children's arrival on the bus.
Paul showed the children some of the more unusual and exotic fruits, they talked about the warmer parts of the World these fruits were grown. The children discussed the fruits they liked and wanted to add to their smoothies when they start their smoothie shop in school in a couple of weeks.
Paddy's Hooked on Fish lobster tank was a great talking point too, Sean from Paddy's showed the children the lobsters and some of them stroked or even held them!!
Finally the children tried some pineapples, melons & grapes before heading off on the bus back to school.
Thank you to Willaston school children for their fantastic behaviour & lovely manners, we enjoyed having you visiting us
Paul had a fabulous morning with children from Cronk Y Berry School yesterday helping the children in the SPACE Centre.
Paul talked about healthy eating & about different fruit and vegetables available whilst encouraging the children to try new foods. The children wanted to set up their own 'Robinsons' Shop which they can discover fruit & vegetables & interact in the class. Paul gave the class a range of vegetables which they are going to use to make soup today.
Please contact us directly if your class would like a visit from Paul or to visit us at Robinsons, Cooil Road.
