The First Point Community Portal, the online service that allows people to store their details in case of an emergency, has received a boost from sponsor Robinson’s. Their donation was made at a presentation at Robinson’s Cooil Road with Tony Fox, from Robinson’s and Alexandra Koyfman from PDMS.
The First Point Community Portal is a community-focused scheme in pilot stage designed to help the emergency services to provide an optimal response in the event of a crisis. It was developed by PDMS in partnership with the Island’s emergency services and several local charities, in order to give added support to people with additional needs in the community.
Users of the service create a secure, online, password-protected profile, containing key personal information, which is accessible only by the Isle of Man Police and Emergency Services Joint Control Room. The First Point Community Portal helps the elderly; people living with physical or mental health conditions; and those living alone or remotely. In a crisis situation, it allows the emergency services to identify someone, contact their loved ones sooner, address their unique needs, and get them to a safe place sooner.
Robinson’s has a long history of supporting community initiatives and charities on the island. Katie Mathieson – Nelson, Marketing Manager at Robinson’s, says, “We are passionate about helping those who make a difference. First Point Community Portal provides an invaluable resource to those who need it most; we applaud everyone involved with its operation, and are only too happy to give our support”.
Alexandra Koyfman, First Point Community Portal Project Lead, says, “A huge thank you to our newest sponsor, Robinson’s. Through the support of trusted local businesses, we are able to provide this service to our community for when they need it most”.
